Nobilis pulchritudo. O pięknie liturgii

Abstrakt:

Nobilis pulchritudo. The beauty of the liturgy
The article is concerned with the theological relation between the liturgy and beauty
seen from the aspect of the liturgical celebration. This reflection is based on two main
questions. The first of them: “Could the liturgy ever exist separately from the concept
of beauty?” refers to the essence of the theological bond between the liturgy and beauty.
The answer was provided by pope Benedict XVI in his post-synodal apostolic exhorta-tion Sacramentum caritatis (2007): “The truest beauty is the love of God, who definitively
revealed himself to us in the paschal mystery“ and “The beauty of the liturgy is part of
this mystery“.
The second question is centered on the celebration: “Could a  real beauty ever ex-ist without the necessity to be celebrated?”. True and authentic beauty expresses itself
by rite –  ordo and art. Only in this way everyone who participates in the liturgy can be
guided to the heart of the celebrated mystery.
