Totalitaryzm i demokracja w filozofii społecznej Józefa Tischnera

Abstrakt:

Two of the elementary opposites between totalitarianism and the state of law are: different concept of man as well as different understanding of God. Both criteria specify the foundations that the two kinds of state are based upon. In the totalitarian state man is not a person but a thing and God is perceived as a competitor in the exercise of authority. Every domain of human’s life becomes a space where the authority of state operates, the authority which is placed above all the interpersonal relations and values.
In the state of law, that is based on the foundation of the human solidarity, man is conceived as a person and God as the Creator of man and as the Origin of the invariable laws and values. The state of law legislates norms and principles that express respect for the union between the man and God. That kind of state also creates the space, where every citizen can profess his own religion and worship God of that religion.
