Study


    1) The Department consists of didactic linguistic units, which offer courses in the following languages:

    Modern languages:
    - English,
    - French,
    - German,
    - Italian,
    - Russian.

    Ancient languages:
    - Greek,
    - Hebrew,
    - Latin.
    - Coptic

    2) The mission of the Department:

    I. Organizing, conducting, co-ordinating and mastering the didactic process of teaching foreign languages at PAT in Kraków,
    II. Inspiring and implementing all forms of linguistic activities outside of the class such as:
    - running commercial language courses during the academic year
    - classes and counselling for advanced students preparing for international university contacts, student exchange and study abroad
    - regular office hours devoted to problem solving, revision and translation

    3) The Department's main teaching areas:

    - modern languages courses, comprising 4 terms (2 years) or 6 terms (3 years) for B.A. and M.A. lay students of all faculties.
    - modern languages courses, comprising 6 terms (3 years) for M.A. priest students.
    - modern languages courses conducted in the Higher Intercongregational Catechetical Institute (MWIK), comprising 4 terms (2 years) for nuns of different congregations.
    - ancient languages courses comprising 6 terms (3 years) for M.A. priest students.
    - ancient languages courses for B.A. and M.A. students of three faculties (the Faculty of Theology, the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of History and Cultural Heritage)
    - optional ancient languages courses for advanced students (Greek, Latin)
    - office hours, courses and exams in ancient and modern languages for doctoral students (the Faculty of History and Cultural Heritage, the Faculty of Philosophy) and licentiate and doctoral students (the Faculty of Theology)
    - office hours, courses and exams in modern languages for students of Postgraduate Journalism Courses
    - enabling students to study and take exams in languages not specified in the university curriculum (Spanish, Ukrainian).
