The text is a translation of a part of Karl Barth’s Roemerbrief (English title: The Epistle to the Romans) – a commentary to St. Paul. Glaube ist Wunder (Faith is a Miracle) – the chapter I have translated – refers to verses iii, 31 – iv, 5 of the Epistle. It regards the relation between the faith and the Law, the problem of justification by the faith and justification by deeds and the status of Abraham. It is also an exposition of Barthian philosophical concept of the faith which is constituted by the strict separation of the domain of faith from the domain of deeds.
